GWISH Research & Travel Grant
Check back later for 2024-2025 application details!
This annual award was created to support Graduate Women in Science Hawai‘i (GWISH) members to conduct research or participate in professional development opportunities, and to encourage our members to be active participants of the scientific community.
Eligibility: Applicants must be a post-bacc student, graduate student, lab technician, lecturer, or postdoctoral researcher who is a current dues-paying member of GWISH.
Awards: One grant in the amount of $500 will be awarded this year. Awards are intended to enable the awardee to accomplish work that would otherwise not be possible. Awards are made directly to the student or postdoctoral researcher. No part of the award may be used to pay indirect costs to the applicant's institution. All funds must be expended to support the proposed activity.
Evaluation and Selection: Evaluation and selection will be made by a panel of faculty reviewers. Reviewers will be asked to score each application based on the strength of the research proposal, a clearly defined and reasonable budget and justification, and GWISH organization involvement. Additionally, each application requires one (1) letter of support which will be scored on the basis of the applicants qualifications, strengths, and ability to complete the proposed project. In the course of a student's graduate education or post-doctoral positions, no more than one (1) grant will be awarded. Stipends and/or personal support requests will not be funded.
Application Procedure: To be eligible for consideration, send one (1) electronic copy (preferably PDF) of all application materials to [email protected] on or before TBD by midnight. In addition, the applicant must request one (1) letter of recommendation be submitted directly to [email protected] from their primary PI/research mentor. This letter should be submitted directly from the letter writer to ensure confidentiality. All applications and questions should be directed to [email protected].
NOTE: Your application must include all items below, and you must ensure that the complete application, including the letters of recommendation are received by the application deadline. Incomplete applications, in part or whole, received after the deadline will NOT be reviewed.
