About Us:
Graduate Women in Science – Hawai‘i
The mission of Graduate Women in Science Hawai‘i (GWISH) is to support the present and future women, non-binary, and gender non-conforming scientists of Hawai‘i, the Pacific Region, and the globe, by providing a collaborative network of practicing scientists, professional development opportunities, and opportunities for community outreach. Our group unites professionals across multiple disciplines and from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the scientific endeavors of women and girls in their own personal and professional lives.
GWISH is located in the Honolulu area of O‘ahu in the Main Hawaiian Islands. Our community includes (but is not limited to!) graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, staff, and faculty primarily associated with the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Membership dues support professional development and outreach opportunities, social events, and the opportunity to apply for a GWIS Hawai‘i Research or Travel Grant. |
Graduate Women in Science Hawai'i is a Registered Independent Organization (RIO) at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. Although GWISH has members who are University of Hawai'i students, the organization is independent of the University and does not represent the views of the University. GWISH is responsible for its own contracts, acts, or omissions.
